By Lisa : I have never used an electric toothbrush before so I carefully reviewed all the brands, reader comments, consumer research reviews, etc. I had settled on the Sonic Elite, but wasn’t thrilled to hear about the messy part (I planned on buying the silicone cover to help alleviate the problem). I realized the next evolution of the product was out, and expecting to use the toothbrush for many years to come, decided to pay the extra money for the top of the line version. Not having used an electric toothbrush before, I expected to be wearing a lot of toothpaste the first not around, but not so. No problems. The toothbrush is very light and easy to manipulate in the mouth. I have been using the compact head since I have a small mouth. Given some of the other review I was somewhat concerned about the noise, but it is not an issue. It is a low-toned buzz, far quieter than an electric razor. No one in the next room would even hear it. My teeth look much whiter, even after the first time (I’m a coffee, tea, and cola drinker)and they always feel dentist clean. The Flexcare Sonicare has been a pleasure to use and to keep clean. I’ve had it a little over a month and I love it, I would hate to think of ever giving it up. It is well worth the money.

Excellent toothbrush – a must need!
By Jonathan Ho : I’ve been using the Sonicare toothbrushes since they came out. My father is a dentist and we got some samples to try out. I had tried the Oral-B rotary style brushes and I feel that the sonicare is superior and the brush heads seem to last longer. Plus, with rotary there is more friction which, if you overbrush, can wear down your enamel and possibly hurt your gums (many people do not know that you can overbrush). I’ve taken the sonicare on travel many times for weeks on end and the battery life is impressive.
Some people find it difficult to pay close to $100 for a toothbrush and then having to buy replacement brush heads at $10 a piece every 6 months.
I don’t think you can afford not to use a sonicare. Your dentist will definitely be able to tell a difference.
As always, there is no substitute for flossing. When they come out with one, someone will become a multi-millionaire.

But I can compare it to a regular toothbrush….and it totally blows away regular toothbrushes. I have been using it for about 3 weeks now and my teeth are noticeably whiter, and they feel smooth just like when a dentist cleans them. The vibration from this brush takes a little getting used to. The nice feature about this model is that it slowly increases the speed over the first 6 or 7 times that you use it to let you adjust to the vibration. Now that I’ve been using it for a while I don’t even notice the vibration anymore. If you want cleaner teeth and less visits to the dentist I highly recommend this brush.

I read all the reviews for the other models,held them in my hand at the Department store and found the only difference between this and the higher priced models is in the style of the handle and the fancy lights showing the remaining battery life. Also the Elite models have the beep every 30 seconds during the 2 minute timer. This model has all the features I need: Easy reach brush(Uses same replacement heads as the Elite models),2-minute timer. Since these things only last a couple of years anway, what’s the sense of spending another $30 or more for features you don’t need to clean your teeth. Buy this toothbrush and use the money you saved to buy replacement heads.

By K. Diyaljee :  After our $30 Oral-B AdvancePower 950 TX, Model D9535 died (after only 2 months of use!), we wanted to make sure that our next powered toothbrush would be of higher quality. So my husband heavily researched all current powered toothbrush models and brands and the end result was our purchasing the Sonicare Essence 5300.

This toothbrush is absolutely AMAZING! It deeply cleans your teeth & stimulates your gums so very gently and leaves your mouth feeling like it was just professionally cleaned everytime!! It is such a pleasure to use, that my husband and I have both found that we brush twice as long! The 2 minute timer will shut off the toothbrush, but we will turn it back on and end up brushing until it goes off again.
We opted to get a model without the Quad timer, but I can see how it would be useful, as it would notify you when to go to a new section of your mouth! It is also fairly quiet when operating compared to the Oral-B model we were using.
The overall design of the toothbrush, base and brushhead holder is simple, minimal and clean and does not clutter up your counter too much. The brushhead holder holds 2 replacement heads and works perfectly for couples. Sonicare also color codes their replacement heads, so that when you buy a pack, one will have a grey ring and one a blue ring, so they can be used by 2 different people. Very convenient and helpful!
This toothbrush will leave your mouth very happy and healthy and is definitely worth the money!

By Joanna Capello-Paul : I was using Oral-B Vitality Sonic for a couple of years, and then I saw the Sonicare Essence 5300 on sale here. I had the money, so I decided to give it a try. I had used Sonicare Advance many years ago, but had to get rid of it due to gunky build-up in the brush head. I did the smart thing this time and called the customer service help line. The representative advised me to keep the brush head off the base whenever I was not brushing, and to store the brush head in its own stand (I hadn’t even realized there was a brush head stand). She also said that it was fine to clean the head and base with soap and water every so often. I’ve also learned to store the charger in a drawer to save the charging capacity. So, now my Sonicare works beautifully – without gunking up. Sonicare’s quality is still extraordinary. My teeth have never felt cleaner. I use natural and organic tooth powders, and I can really feel the ingredients get in between my teeth and along the gum line with the Essence brush. I would imagine that with the care and cleaning regimen that the lady recommended, I could conceivably keep the toothbrush for many, many years. I am very happy about that, since I’ve fallen in love with this toothbrush.
